The 1st edition of My Immortal: The Vampires of Berlin is good, but I feel like I really became a writer in the 2nd. It was a great learning experience to walk away from the story for 6 months, then come back and look at the book (and some not-so-great writing) with fresh eyes. After My Immortal got in Entertainment Weekly, and publishers would finally talk to me, the one thing I kept hearing was ... "we want more." So, the 2nd edition took on a life of its own .... there are more vampires, more CIA, the Second Korean War, all sorts of crazy stuff ... a take which then knocked test readers on their collective ass. :) One item of note - the story has not changed since Day 1 - it's just fleshed out, especially Act 3, present day Berlin. The story gets really intense
